When the New York Knicks acquired Carmelo Anthony at last year?s trade deadline, that was a huge deal, but everyone out there expected it to happen.
When the Utah Jazz dealt Deron Williams to the New Jersey Nets, well that came as a surprise to everyone. The Jazz did acquire Devon Harris in return, but it appears that they are after another point guard in this year?s draft, Kentucky?s Brandon Knight.
By adding Knight, the Jazz would get a point guard who is lightning fast and has the ability to score in bunches and also be a great floor general. He is a rare-breed of point guard, which is something that this team had before they let Williams go.
It seemed like just three years ago, Utah was on the brink of being that next great team in the Western Conference who could rival the Lakers. But then came the loss of Mehmet Okur to injury, and then Carlos Boozer left town, and then the Williams trade.
It looks like the Jazz are in rebuilding mode again, but by bringing in a guy like Knight, they get an elite, young point guard who should be able to lead this team back to the playoffs sooner than later.
