Alves started slow, but he seemed to find his rhythm there at the end of the first so let's see what happens in the early going.
Story walks out without any concern regarding the last minute of the first and resumes his takedown attempt/body control against the cage after a brief striking exchange yields little. Alves defends and opens up space between the two warriors before landing a nice leg kick, but it doesn't slow the American as he scores a takedown shortly after absorbing it.
Thiago shows his defensive ground game might not be too terrible as he escapes from the bottom position to his feet, then tallies a takedown of his own. He's got nothing for Story on the ground, however, so they're back on the feet and pressed against the cage (with Rick doing the pressing).
More knees to the thigh from the Horror as he's clearly taking a cumulative approach rather than trying to end it one fell swoop. Granted, there's not too much accumulating so the ref separates them and Story lands a nice straight right that blasts Alves off balance and to the ground.
The Brazilian springs right back up, though, so not really a knockdown. But still counts for points before the horn ends another 10-9 round for Story.
