NFL Lockout: Rookie Symposium Reportedly Cancelled Because of Unresolved Lockout
The rookie symposium is the first step the new NFL'ers take in their transition to professional football.
Unfortunately for the 2011 draft class, the event will reportedly be cancelled this year because of the unresolved labor issue.
ESPN's Adam Schefter posted the report outlining the cancellation:
The symposium was scheduled to kick off June 26 and would have been held in Canton, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, for the first time.
The symposium isn't as well-known as some of the NFL's other offseason events, for obvious reasons, but it could be the most important for the rookies.
The NFL brings in current and former players and financial advisers to provide guidance and lessons on how to behave as a professional football player.
Everything from how to handle their money to how to deal with the game of football on and off the field.
Many times star collegiate players never make it in the NFL because the money and new lifestyle gets the best of the them and they either lose their work-ethic or get into trouble when their not at their team's facility.
Hopefully this is the one and only offseason event that doesn't take place.
