2011 NFL Draft: Jaguars take the chance on Bowers:
Get out your crystal ball, tarot cards and magic eight ball and find out how Da'Quan Bowers' career is going to end up. Then sell that information to NFL scouts and executives for six figures.
The status and future of Bowers' surgically repaired knee have become two of the biggest questions of the 2011 NFL Draft. When he was healthy, Bowers harassed quarterbacks as well as any player in college football.
Then he tore his meniscus, had surgery and didn't look the same in pro day workouts. Bowers claims the knee has its strength back and he will continue to recover to his previous form. Some team doctors disagree.
Jacksonville must take the risk at 16th overall. Bowers fills a team need as a player once rated by many as the best overall prospect. However, it will be a hard sell to a fan base that watched its franchise swing and miss on defensive end Derrick Harvey in 2008.
Five years from now, Bowers could be the steal of the draft or a bunch of scouts and draft experts that warned of picking him will be saying, "I told you so."
