Es lebt eine Grfin in schwedischem Land
Die war ja so schn und so bleich
?Herr Frster, Herr Frster!

?Herr Schiffer, Herr Schiffer
Nimm mich auf in dein Boot ?
In dein Boot, in dein Boot!

Chris Hansen, 'To Catch a Predator' Host, Caught Cheating by Hidden Cameras

Filed under:

Chris HansenOh, the irony ... It's been reported that Chris Hansen, host of 'To Catch a Predator,' the controversial 'Dateline' show that uses hidden cameras to trap would-be perverts in sting operations, has been caught cheating on his wife ... in a sting operation using hidden cameras.

According to 'The Daily Mail' Hansen found himself on the receiving end of his own hidden camera tactics after the married NBC anchor was secretly filmed on an illicit date with a blonde television reporter 20 years his junior.

He was the subject of a four-month long sting operation conducted by 'The National Enquirer' after he allegedly began an affair with former NBC intern Kristyn Caddell, a 30-year-old Florida journalist.

Apple posts Final Cut Pro X FAQ

In what seems to be an attempt to address the widespread controversy over the recent release of Final Cut Pro X, Apple has posted a FAQ on its site to address some of the concerns that have been raised thus far. Designed to answer the biggest questions that professional editors have raised over Final Cut Pro X, Apple has given very few straightforward "no" answers to questions regarding the video production suite's "missing" features.

One of the few "no" answers regards importing projects from Final Cut Pro 7 to Final Cut Pro X. Apple claims the change in product architecture prevents "translating" projects from the old format into the new one. Many other answers either explain how to accomplish tasks that may have confused users accustomed to the old interface.

A fair number of the FAQ's points address questions by saying, "Not yet." As an example, professional editors have been up in arms over Final Cut Pro X's inability to support multicam editing, but Apple says support for this feature is coming "in the next major release." XML exporting will also be offered soon; Apple will release APIs "in the next few weeks" that will allow third-party developers access to the new XML in Final Cut Pro X.

Final Cut Pro X has been one of the most controversial Apple software products in recent memory. It's unclear at this early stage if this FAQ goes far enough in addressing the concerns of the "pro" community to which the suite is supposedly targeted, but it's at least obvious that Apple is aware of users' concerns and working toward addressing some of them in future updates.

Apple posts Final Cut Pro X FAQ originally appeared on TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog on Wed, 29 Jun 2011 05:15:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Monta Ellis NBA Trade Rumors: Golden State Warriors Should Deal Him This Summer

The Golden State Warriors should make the Monta Ellis trade rumors come to fruition and trade the scoring guard before the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

Despite General Manager Larry Riley repeatedly stating that the club is not actively shopping Ellis, the selection of guards Klay Thompson and Charles Jenkins in the 2011 draft indicates something else.

The overwhelming consensus is that Ellis and budding Stephen Curry probably can't coexist in the same backcourt, but the team's new ownership group headed by Joe Lacob, as well as new head coach Mark Jackson, are both serious Ellis supporters.

If the team is looking to make a commitment to Curry as the future, they have absolutely no choice besides trading Ellis to a club that lacks a dynamic scorer.

Ellis, an incredibly unique talent with a very affordable contract (making just $11 million per season), should be able to yield a significant return in any trade that Golden State pursues.

While there have been some rumors of the Warriors possibly engaging in trade talks with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers, neither Lamar Odom nor Andre Iguodala is an adequate return for a club that really needs to improve if they're going to trade Ellis.

Riley has said, "It would take a helluva deal that really made sense for the organization as a whole in order for us to trade Monta Ellis," and that is certainly the right attitude to approach the negotiating table as they attempt to improve the rebuilding team.

The two major areas of weakness for the Warriors are defense and size. If, and only if, the Warriors can address both of those needs through an Ellis trade, the team should not express any hesitancy in pulling the trigger.

As valuable as he has proven to be on the hardwood, he may have even more value to Golden State in a potential deal to net some intriguing assets that help them in another area.

After the Ellis rumors began to leak out fervently, the Warriors are in damage control mode as they don't want to soften their negotiating stance through the media.

They've got a long way to go toward achieving their goal of being a competitive club in a crowded Western Conference, but trading Ellis for some legitimate talent in return would mark a definite step in the right direction.

[Video] Alexander ? Let?s Win

Alexander, aka Alex Ebert aka frontman of the ever lovable Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, has released a brand new video for “Let’s Win”, the opening track from his quasi-recently released album Alexander. This video is pretty interesting to me because this has always been one of my favorite tracks on the album, with it’s catchy melodies and it’s total lighthearted feel. Those sentiments are definitely carried through into the video, but as you will see in the opening seconds, it all takes place within the context of a rally in support of Tim DeChristopher in what seemsread more and hear the song

Baltimore Ravens: Flacco Versus Roethlisberger, Rivers and Manning

Joe Flacco has been the most scrutinized player this offseason. Everyone has an opinion, but there doesn’t really seem to be a moderate opinion. Flacco is a polarizing player. People either see him as an elite quarterback or a big disappointment.

ESPN’s John Clayton emphatically calls Flacco an “elite quarterback,” and Derrick Mason says Flacco’s the Ravens’ “Michael Jordan.”

Lamaar Woodley has said that Flacco would not win a Super Bowl “in this lifetime,” and Dhani Jones said that Flacco is a “capable quarterback [but] if you put a lot of pressure on him, he makes bad decisions.”

It’s not really surprising that the two biggest public criticisms of Flacco have come from players on the Steelers and the Bengals. Flacco has struggle more versus those two teams than any others in the league. Obviously, players from those teams are likely to have the lowest opinion of him.

Players from Miami or Houston, teams that Flacco has historically played well against, are less likely to feel the same way, and this goes for the fans as well. There hasn’t been a fan base more critical of Flacco than that of the Steelers, and again, this is not surprising.

Unluckily for Flacco, Woodley and Jones don’t seem to be in the minority lately, and many critics would agree with them. While there haven’t been many other NFL players or coaches to come out and publicly criticize Flacco, his public opinion has been on the decline. Nothing has hurt it worse than consistently losing to the Steelers since he entered the league three seasons ago.

Spinning off of the last article analyzing Flacco, the point of this article is not to beat the drums for Joe Flacco but only to bring some perspective to this polarizing argument. We’re gong to use the same statistical analysis method from last article to compare the statistics from Flacco’s first three seasons in the league to the first three seasons of other comparable quarterbacks in an effort to discover just how good Flacco is and where he is in his development by comparison.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady would not be good comparisons for this analysis since not many people think Flacco is or ever has been on their level in his first three seasons.

Instead, we’re going to look at quarterbacks who’ve shared some career similarities with Flacco. Starting from a young age, especially as a rookie, should be the biggest criteria for any comparable quarterback. The second biggest should be a first round quarterback who the team has drafted as their franchise quarterback.

By those criteria, the two best comparable quarterbacks are Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning. Both of those quarterbacks were drafted in the first round as their team’s future franchise quarterback, and both started for the majority of their rookie year.

Another quarterback that we’re going to analyze is Philip Rivers. Rivers didn’t start in his rookie year and had the luxury of learning from a Pro Bowl quarterback, Drew Brees, in his first two seasons. This obviously gives Rivers an edge, but we’re still going to compare Flacco to him since there have been recent comparisons between the two quarterbacks.

Joe Flacco has played in 48 games as over his first three seasons. Doing the math, that means that he’s started every game of every season, 16 games for three seasons, since he’s been in the league. That says a lot about his durability, but unfortunately for this analysis, Roethlisberger and Manning did not start every game for their team over their first three seasons. Both players missed games for various reasons.

For that reason, we are going to analyze the first 48 games for all the quarterbacks. This gives Roethlisberger and Manning a distinct advantage in the analysis since their last games in the analysis will run over into their fourth season.

Although Rivers' statistics will be exclusively from his first three starting seasons, he also has an advantage because his first starting season didn’t come until his third year in the league, as we’ve already said. We’re just going to have to live with these advantages and try to interpret their effects on the analysis though extrapolation.

The first sets of data we’re going to look at are the quarterback ratings. From the graph, we can see that every quarterback showed improvement in their rating trend except Roethlisberger, who had a surprisingly negative rate of minus-0.21 but the highest starting value of 99.0.

Flacco had a rate of increase of 0.48, which was the highest, but had the second lowest starting value of 77.1. Manning and Rivers had rates of 0.24 and 0.33 respectively and starting values of 67.1 for Manning and 87.0 for Rivers.

Before we go on, let’s talk about what these trend numbers mean. The starting values are simply the starting point, floor or ceiling, of the trend line value, and the rates are the amount which the line increases or decreases in each increment, which is a game in this case.

For example, Roethlisberger’s trend started with a value of 99.0, which was the highest, and decrease by 0.21 for every game he played over 48 games. Therefore, his trend starts with a value of 99.0 and ends with a value of approximately 88.9. This obviously means that his passer rating has been decreasing throughout his career.

The other quarterbacks showed a positive increase in passer rating throughout their careers. This doesn’t mean that the others are better than Roethlisberger since his trend started at the highest value. It only means that Roethlisberger was very good from the beginning of his career. There are many factors that could lead to a negative decrease in rating including a slump in the middle and/or end of his first three seasons. A negative decline doesn’t mean he’ll continue to decline.

Flacco’s rating shows the highest rate of increase of the rating trends but the lowest starting value. This means that Flacco struggled at the beginning of his career but is showing progress. This is what you’d expect from a talented quarterback coming out of a smaller school especially if they were forced to start from day one in the NFL.

Flacco’s high rate is probably skewed by the extremely low value with which he started. That is, he’s probably not going to see that same rate of change continue. He will probably continue to improve, but the rate of increase is likely to decrease.

Flacco’s rating trend by comparison to the other quarterbacks is very good. Over his first three seasons, his trend is better than Manning’s or Roethlisberger’s because he ends at a high value, 100.14, by this analysis. Again, this is slightly skewed since his starting level was so low.

At the very least, Flacco’s trend is comparable to Roethlisberger’s and better than Manning’s. Flacco’s overall trend is not as good as River’s, which started and ended slightly higher, but that’s what you’d expect since Rivers was more prepared. Flacco’s rate was slightly better which could indicate a similar level of talent.

The yardage trends for the quarterbacks will tell us how much their team’s offense was flowing through them. Looking at the graphs, every quarterback’s yardage trend increased over their first three seasons.

Flacco’s rate was 0.76, and his starting value was 194.0. Roethlisberger’s rate was 1.18, and his starting value was 180.4. Rivers’ rate was 0.90, and his starting value was 198.0. Manning’s rate was 0.35, and his starting value was 192.2.

These values show that Roethlisberger’s trend starts lower than any other quarterback’s but finishes second only to Rivers’, which starts at the highest value and ends at the highest value. The Steelers offense was clearly flowing through Roethlisberger more and more throughout his first three seasons.

This indicates a low dependence on him at the beginning of his career and a high dependence on him towards the end. Keep in mind that these statistics include part of Roethlisberger’s fourth season, his breakout year, and are obviously skewed in his favor as a result.

Again, Flacco’s trend by comparison is actually very good. It shows that the Ravens offense was dependant on him from the very beginning…even more than Roethlisberger and Manning's teams. It doesn’t show the same dramatic increase that Roethlisberger’s did but did finish very close.

All things considered, Flacco’s yardage trend is probably better than Roethlisberger’s after considering the skewed data and the higher starting value and is definitely better than Manning’s because it started higher and increased at a much greater rate.

Flacco’s trend, or any of the others for that matter, did not match River’s trend, which started higher and ended higher. River’s rate was much better, so again, that could indicate comparable talent but a lower floor.

The touchdown and interception trends will tell us how each quarterback improved in efficiency over their first three seasons and really need to be analyzed in light of each other due to the interdependent nature of the two statistics.

Flacco’s touchdown rate was 0.02, and his starting value was 0.76. Roethlisberger’s touchdown rate was 0.01, and his starting value was 1.13. Rivers’ touchdown rate was 0.02, and his starting value was 1.08. Manning’s touchdown rate was 0.01, and his starting value was 1.17.

Flacco’s interception rate was -0.01, and his starting value was 0.91. Roethlisberger’s interception rate was 0.01, and his starting value was 0.71. Rivers’ interception rate was 0.001, and his starting value was 0.71. Manning’s interception rate was 0.001, and his starting value was 1.09.

The touchdown trends are all relatively good with Rivers' trend being the best by far, but they are most meaningful when analyzed with the interception trends. Every quarterback’s touchdown trend increases, but only Flacco’s interception trend decreases.

This is partly because his trend started at the second highest value, but it’s also worth noting that his touchdown trend increased at the same rate as Rivers'. This is remarkable because an increase in touchdowns usually goes hand-in-hand with and increase in interceptions.

When you consider that Flacco’s touchdown trend ends higher than every quarterback’s except Rivers and his interception trend ends at the lowest value, the conclusion has to be that Flacco was clearly the second most efficient quarterback, and considering that Rivers had a head start on Flacco, it could even be argued that Flacco’s trend is even more impressive than Rivers'.

Obviously, statistics will never tell the whole story, and there isn’t a number, equation or analysis that could definitively tell you which quarterback is better. Each quarterback plays in different offenses with different weapons and opportunities, and even the best analysis is inherently flawed for those types of reasons.

That being said, we can still look at the numbers to bring all the arguments into perspective and give us an indication of what’s going on in reality. At worst, this analysis shows that Joe Flacco’s progress is at least similar to the quarterbacks we compared him to. His progress seems to be clearly better than Eli Manning, at least equivalent to Ben Roethlisberger and slightly inferior to Philip Rivers, who had a definite advantage in the analysis.

If Roethlisberger, Manning and Rivers are considered franchise quarterbacks, there can be no doubt that Flacco is progressing according to what we’d expect from a franchise quarterback.

NFL Free Agency Report: No Nnamdi? Eagles Strongly Interested in Ike Taylor

The name most Eagle fans want is Nnamdi Asomugha. He is, of course, the best corner in the league and would fit in perfectly across from star corner Asante Samuel.

Asomugha's man-to-man coverage skills are second to none and his game would compliment the gambler Samuel.

The downside to signing Asomugha though is that he will be 30 years old next year and will probably demand a historic contract for a cornerback.

There will be cheaper alternates to Asomugha and the list includes: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jonathan Joseph, Brent Grimes and Ike Taylor.

A recent report by FOXSports.com's Adam Caplan, who cites multiple sources, states that the Eagles "will show strong interest in Taylor once free agency starts."

The 31-year-old Taylor has made it known that he will test free agency and Philadelphia may seem like a fit.

Caplan goes on to say, "And with the Eagles possibly playing more zone and less man coverage in the secondary this season based on the adjustment the defensive line is expected to undergo, Taylor would fit in quite well."

My Take

The Eagles are one of the few teams that exclusively played man-to-man last year, including the Raiders and Jets.

When a strong cover corner like Sheldon Brown was here in Philly, Samuel was allowed to man a zone bubble, essentially allowing him to read the quarterback and react. Samuel though had to play more man-man because of the absence of a legitimate right cornerback.

Caplan, who knows the Eagles as well as any analyst, feels that Jim Washburn's wide-nine technique will impact the philosophy of the secondary becoming more zone oriented.

Washburn's schemes calls for the defensive ends to line outside of the tackles. The goal for the entire defensive line is to get up field and become pass rushers instead of the usual stunts we saw with Sean McDermott as defensive coordinator.

Ike Taylor is getting up their in age, but still performed well for a strong Steelers defense last year.

The 6'2'', 195-pound Taylor recorded 66 tackles and two interceptions last season, displaying his physicality on most plays.

His game complements Samuel very well, allowing Samuel to once again play more zone coverages, which would make Taylor the primary man-to-man cover corner.

Taylor will also be cheaper than a Jonathan Joseph or Nnamdi Asomugha in free agency.

The Eagles will have plenty of decisions to make at cornerback.

MLB Power Rankings: Ranking Every MLB Owner on Their Sports Smarts

Most baseball fans know the names of their team's managers and general managers; the men they see running their team on a daily basis.  However, some of the most important men in baseball, the owners, remain unknown to their team's fans.

While it may look like the manager and GM run the team, every decision first has to be run by the men who financially support the team.  In reality, it is the owners who call the shots, so it is important to the success of a team for its owner to understand what they are doing baseball-wise.

Obviously, these men are intelligent and very well-educated.  They know how the business aspect of owning a team works, but if they don't have some prior sports knowledge or an understanding of what it takes to make an MLB team win, then their team will be unsuccessful.  Unsuccessful teams do not please fans, and the fans are the most important part of any team.  Without the fans, there is no revenue—without revenue, there will cease to be a team.

So who are the current owners with the best "sports smarts?"  I have ranked every owner of every team in MLB, from worst to first, with that aspect in mind.  Now keep in mind that I am not trying to say which owners are good and which are bad, I am simply stating which owners seem most...qualified for the job.

Samsung files ITC complaint against Apple

Samsung and Apple's legal battle over trademark and patent infringement continues to heat up. The latest salvo was fired by Samsung which lodged a complaint with the ITC asking for a ban on the import of the iPhone, iPad and iPod. The court has up to 18 months to make a decision on this request. Apple has yet to file an ITC complaint, but it is likely to do so after this move by Samsung.

The bigger question is not about trade dress and infringement, but the weakening relationship between Samsung and Apple. Are the two companies headed for a separation or will they stay manufacturing BFFs throughout this legal skirmish?

2011 MLB Season: Who Is Really the Best Player in Baseball?

There are many great players in the MLB, but there are only a few that are dominant at their positions.

When you think of best players in the league you think of Albert Pujols, Roy Halladay and even Tim Lincecum.

I think Roy Halladay is the best pitcher in baseball and the best player in baseball because he dominates at his position which is a starting pitcher, and he constantly gives it his all every fifth day he is on the hill.

He is like no other pitcher in the fact that every game he goes out and pitches, you have to sit down and watch him pitch because he may pitch a perfect game.

Last season, he pitched a perfect game against the Florida Marlins and a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds, which was Game 1 in the NLDS.

He knows how to win important games and win important battles in key at-bats.

Roy Halladay has no World Series rings but has only been on the Philadelphia Phillies for two years and may win a title this year.  He was on the Blue Jays for 12 years and still did his best and dominated at his position.

This year, he is sixth in ERA with a stellar 2.40 ERA and is 10-3.  He flat out wins games.

Yes there are many pitchers that are good but none as good as Roy Halladay.  He pitches with heart and never shows a smile which tells you he is focused.

He is second in the league with five complete games and has 123 strikeouts this year so far.

He has 179 career wins with 89 loses.  Halladay will most likely win the Cy Young in the NL as long as Jair Jurrjens pitching performances falter.

Since Albert Pujols is out four to six weeks with a wrist problem, his 45 plus home runs and 120-plus RBI won't happen, and he won't be the Albert Pujols from the past.

Tim Lincecum is a great pitcher, but he is only 6-6 this year and has a 3.16 ERA this year.

Halladay isn't having his best year yet but will lead the NL in strikeouts and will lead the league in wins.  I think he is the best pitcher in baseball and best player because of what he does for his team unlike a lot of players.

Even if his team gives him one run of support, he will keep them in the game with his pitching performances.

Holygrailers ? Zeppelin

Big ups to Denmark Records for putting out some really legit music as of late. Our first exposure to them was most likely when we posted some tunes from it is rain in my face. a while back that we found to be rather awesome. And now they just sent us (and by “just”, I mean on April 13, but once it gets marked in the inbox, it’s there until I write about it) this awesome tune from Holygrailers, which appears to be the project of Nikhil Shah out of Raleigh, NC. Entitled “Zeppelin”, it’sread more and hear the song

Oklahoma Football: 5 Worst-Case Scenarios

Expectations for the Oklahoma Sooners are sky high for the 2011-12 season, and many pundits are predicting a second National Championship for head coach Bob Stoops.

Blessed with a rocket-armed quarterback in Landry Jones and his favorite target, wide receiver Ryan Broyles, the Sooners offense is again expected to be among the best in the nation.

Jones is a high profile Heisman Trophy candidate, and is Broyles can amass 1,577 receiving yards in his fourth season in Norman, he'll leave as the all-time leading receiver in FBS history.

Also returning for Oklahoma is star linebacker Travis Lewis, who has recorded more than 100 tackles in each of his three seasons as a Sooner.

However, Oklahoma lost a lot of consistency and experience this offseason in the form of running back DeMarco Murray, safeties Quinton Carter and Jonathan Nelson. Former offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson is now the head coach at Indiana.

None of the Sooners' predicted success is a guarantee, of course, and by clicking through these slides, you'll see five things that could derail Oklahoma's title aspirations.

Miami Heat's late win over Dallas Mavericks earns 2-1 NBA finals lead

? Miami Heat 88-86 Dallas Mavericks
? Chris Bosh put Miami ahead with 39 seconds remaining

The Miami Heat held on for an 88-86 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday to take a 2-1 lead in the NBA finals series.

Chris Bosh put Miami ahead with a jump shot from the baseline with 39.6 seconds left as Miami finally managed to contain Dirk Nowitzki in the closing seconds to hold on for victory.

"This is a total win," said Dwayne Wade, who led Miami with 29 points and 11 rebounds. "You want to win the game on the defensive end of the floor and we got a stop."

Recent history suggests this was a huge win for the Heat. The Game Three winner in tied finals series has gone on to win the championship each of the 11 times it has happened since the 2-3-2 format began in 1985.

The Heat are headed into Game Four on Tuesday with a chance to do what they did in 2006: win it all on Dallas's floor. They'll need to win that game and the next, on Thursday.

"I feel like we did nothing but get home-court advantage back," Wade said. "But the next game is a big game. We have to bring our hard hats, understanding it's going to be tougher to win that game than it was to win this one. I believe in this team. If anyone can do it, I believe we can."

The Heat, who blew a 15-point lead in the last quarter of Game Two, nearly did it again on Sunday, coughing up a 14-point lead. They led 81-74 with 6min 31sec left and Miami's players knew the Mavericks' comeback bid would be in Nowitzki's hands, but they still couldn't stop the German, who scored 12 straight Dallas points with six free throws, a layup, a dunk and a tough jumper to make it 86-86.

Miami went back in front when Bosh sank a clutch jumper from the baseline. It was even more impressive considering his left eyelid was swollen because of an accidental poke in the first quarter, and he'd been misfiring all series, even when his vision was good.

"I don't care if he missed 15 in a row," James said. "He was wide open and that's his sweet spot. It's the trust we have in each other's ability, no matter what the point of the game is at."

The Mavericks of course went back to Nowitzki on its last two chances. Right after Bosh scored, Nowitzki wanted to take a shot near the foul line but was double-teamed and his attempted pass went out of bounds.

After the final timeout, Dallas had 4.4 seconds left to go for the tie or win. The inbounds pass went to Nowitzki and he was alone against Udonis Haslem just above the foul line. Haslem walked the fine line between disrupting the shot while avoiding a foul, and the German's shot bounced off the rim.

"He's a great player, 7 feet, so he's going to shoot over me," Haslem said. "I've got to make it tough on him."

When the buzzer went off, Haslem screamed in delight as the Dallas crowd groaned.

"Emotional game, fought back, and to fall short at the end is tough," said Nowitzki who scored 34 points. "But they need two more. Hopefully we can play a better all-around game and finally get some shots to go down."

Wade made 12 of 21 shots and was at his dynamic best from the start, looking like the player who lifted the Heat past Dallas and to the title in 2006.

"He was aggressive and took good shots," Bosh said. "We rode the wave for a little while. He set the tone for us."

Most of his baskets came in the paint where the Heat outscored the Mavs 40-22 and many of them were spectacular. But he also stemmed Dallas's rally by hitting a go-ahead jumper over Kidd for Miami's second-to-last basket, and he made sure to keep his team-mates properly focused, offering praise or scolding when needed. When James was duped into a shot-clock violation in the final minutes, Wade pounded his fists on his head in frustration.

"I've been here before," Wade said. "So [I was] just trying to lead. My guys did a great job of following that lead. We were able to come out with the win."

Wade and Bosh each scored seven points in the fourth quarter. Bosh finished with 18 points.

LeBron James finished with 17 points and nine assists. He also had four turnovers, including a pair during the fourth quarter not counting the shot-clock violation that helped bring Dallas back.

Nowitzki scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, but didn't get much help, in the period or the rest of the game.

Terry scored 15 and Shawn Marion had 10. Both were shut out in the fourth quarter. The only other scorers were backup point guard JJ Barea early in the quarter and Tyson Chandler dunking off a rebound.

For the game, Nowitzki made 11 shots, the rest of the Mavericks 17.

"We have to have somebody step up besides Dirk," said Jason Kidd, who had nine points and 10 assists, but also four turnovers. Giveaways haunted Dallas throughout the game, especially the first half, helping keep Miami comfortably ahead. "We have to figure out how to get up front and play up front. The big thing is we've got to be able to make plays late in the game. Game Two we made the plays, Game Three we just didn't."

NBA review: Chicago Bulls take top seed status for play-offs

? Bulls close regular season with ninth straight victory
? San Antonio Spurs lose 106-103 to the Phoenix Suns

Kyle Korver scored 19 points as the Chicago Bulls closed the regular season with their ninth straight victory, beating the New Jersey Nets 97-92. The Bulls had to wait for San Antonio's result to see who would be seeded No1 for the play-offs ? with the Spurs' loss to Phoenix earning them home-court advantage.

Joakim Noah finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds to help the Bulls finish 62-20, equalling their best showing since the 1997-98 championship season. They begin their play-off campaign against the Indiana Pacers.

Suns 106, Spurs 103

Marcin Gortat had 21 points and 13 rebounds as Phoenix denied San Antonio their chance to secure home-court advantage throughout the play-offs. The Spurs, who at 61-21 finished a game behind Chicago for the best record in the NBA, lost Manu Ginobili to injury early in the game. San Antonio will open against Memphis in the play-offs.

Lakers 116, Kings 108, OT

Lakers star Kobe Bryant scored 36 points and forced overtime with a tying three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left in regulation, as the Kings lost what might be their last game in Sacramento. A standing-room only crowd packed the 17,317-seat capacity arena, clanking cow bells and roaring louder than they had in years. With the team mulling a move to Anaheim, fans brought handmade signs and cheered their loudest to will the team back. Instead, the Lakers pulled away in overtime to take the No2 seed in the Western Conference, setting up a first-round series against New Orleans. Marcus Thornton had 33 points and Tyreke Evans added 16 for the Kings.

Heat 97, Raptors 79

Eddie House scored a career-high 35 points and Juwan Howard added 18 as Miami beat Toronto. With the Heat assured of the second seed in the East, Miami's coach, Erik Spoelstra, rested LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Miami will host Philadelphia in its post-season opener. House's previous career best was 31, set against Utah on 18 November 2005. He was seven of 13 from three-point range. The Heat have won four straight and 15 of 18 heading into the play-offs. Jerryd Bayless scored 21 points for Toronto.

Celtics 112, Knicks 102

At Boston, Avery Bradley scored a career-high 20 points to help Boston's "B'' team beat New York's second string. Glen "Big Baby" Davis had 17 points and eight rebounds, and Sasha Pavlovic added a season-high 19 points as the Celtics ended a two-game losing streak. Amare Stoudemire played 20 minutes and scored 14 points for New York.

Magic 92, Pacers 74

Ryan Anderson scored 14 points, and Dwight Howard had 13 points and 13 rebounds in a short night in Orlando's victory over Indiana. Mike Dunleavy and Brandon Rush both scored 16 points for Indiana. The Pacers will open their first play-off series in five years against top-seeded Chicago, while the Magic will host Atlanta in a match-up of the fourth and fifth seeds.

Clippers 110, Grizzlies 103

Blake Griffin had 31 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the 82nd and final game of his spectacular rookie season for Los Angeles. Griffin sat out all 82 games last season after hurting his knee in the final pre-season game and having surgery. He was the only player to appear in every game this season when injuries plagued the team. Eric Gordon added 24 points and DeAndre Jordan had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Los Angeles. The Clippers finished 32-50 to miss the playoffs again.

Mavericks 121, Hornets 89

Dirk Nowitzki scored 12 of his 32 points in the decisive third quarter, leading Dallas past New Orleans. Dallas wound up No 3 in the Western Conference and will face Portland in the opening round. New Orleans hung on to the seventh spot because Memphis also lost. The Hornets will face the Lakers. Jarrett Jack led New Orleans with 22 points.

Warriors 110, Trail Blazers 86

Reggie Williams scored 28 points, and Stephen Curry had 18 points and nine assists in Golden State's victory over Portland. Dorell Wright had 20 points to cap a breakout season for the veteran forward and David Lee added 13 points for the Warriors. Patty Mills had a career-high 23 points and Wesley Matthews added 18 points for Portland, which already had secured the No6 seed in the Western Conference.

Bucks 110, Thunder 106, OT

Brandon Jennings scored 16 points as Milwaukee beat Oklahoma City. Jennings outscored the Thunder 8-2 in the final 2:21, hitting the go-ahead reverse layup with 56.8 seconds left and then hitting two free throws to put the game away. Russell Westbrook scored 20 points and Kevin Durant added 14 in a season-low 23 minutes as the Thunder gave their starters a lightened load with the playoffs looming. Oklahoma City will be the No4 seed in the Western Conference and open against Denver.

Jazz 107, Nuggets 103

At Salt Lake City, rookie Gordon Hayward scored a career-high 34 points and hit five three-pointers to lift Utah past play-off-bound Denver. The game meant little to the Nuggets, who already had secured the Western Conference's No5 seed and rested many of their players. Wilson Chandler led the Nuggets with 27 points.

Bobcats 96, Hawks 85

Gerald Henderson scored 20 points, and DJ Augustin added 17 points and seven assists as Charlotte sent Atlanta into the play-offs on a six-game losing streak. With no starter playing more than 25 minutes and only Kirk Hinrich (10 points) scoring in double figures, the coach, Larry Drew, earned the Hawks rest, but no momentum heading into their first-round game at Orlando.

Pistons 104, 76ers 100

Rodney Stuckey scored 29 points, and Tayshaun Prince had 14 to help Detroit hand play-off-bound Philadelphia its fifth loss in six games. Jrue Holiday led the 76ers with 21 points. They will open the play-offs against Miami.

Cavaliers 100, Wizards 93

At Cleveland, Ramon Sessions scored 27 points and JJ Hickson added 15 as Cleveland closed out one of the worst seasons in franchise history and the first in eight years without LeBron James. The Cavs finished 19-63, an extreme drop after going a league-best 61-21 during the regular season in 2010. Andray Blatche scored 20 for Washington.

Rockets 121, Timberwolves 102

At Minneapolis, Chase Budinger scored a career-high 35 points and Kevin Martin added 25 for Houston. Michael Beasley scored 34 points and Anthony Randolph had 23 for Minnesota. The Timberwolves lost their last 15 games of the season to finish with the worst record in the NBA at 15-65.

Dear Aunt TUAW: Help me convert my iPhone to an iPod touch

Dear Auntie,

Is it possible to completely convert my old iPhone 3G into an iPod touch? I don't want it to think it is still my phone and keep trying to backup and restore in iTunes.

Your help would be really appreciated.

Thanks and cookies!

Ryan

Dear Ryan,

Yes, and it's really easy to do. Just "Restore" that phone to factory-fresh and don't restore-from-backup afterwards. Set it up as a new phone instead.

Auntie has a 3GS she uses like that, and it's great. It has all the iPod touch features and works with GPS. That's super for all kinds of run-tracking apps and search-by-location ones, like Yelp.

You can throw in a cheap SIM and use your old unit for phone calls and data, too. So long as it is an AT&T SIM, you don't have to jailbreak or unlock.

Hugs,

Auntie T
