With the NBA lockout well underway, the league's stars have already begun looking for things to do in the event that the 2011-12 season gets blown, in part or as a whole.
To that end, Deron Williams and Kobe Bryant have been hogging all the headlines with talk of potentially playing in Turkey if and when the labor dispute takes its toll on the court, while others, like Dwight Howard and Dwyane Wade, have contributed their own two cents to the conversation.
But what of Kevin Durant, the NBA's two-time reigning scoring champ? And what about James Harden, the Oklahoma City Thunder sixth man extraordinaire and Brian Wilson beard impersonator?
Well, as it turns out, those two have already been busy barnstorming the South Pacific, representing themselves and the league quite well.
Case in point: check out this video of the Durantula and the Beard hooping it up at the Ultimate All-Star Weekend at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines this weekend. Clearly, these two hardwood heroes haven't lost step with one another, though Harden appears to lose his own after coming down from that thunderous, alley-oop slam on a ri-dunk-ulous underhanded pass of the back board by Durant.
Perhaps Harden's stumble was a show of surprise. After all, Durant averaged only 2.7 assists per game last season while jacking up just under 20 shots per contest. One look at the tape will reveal something of a matador defense by the opposition, highlighted by two guys wearing red jerseys, that Durant could easily have traversed for an emphatic throw-down of his own.
Clearly, Kevin is a giving guy, as he was so kind as to drop a delicious dime off glass for his teammate AND thrill 'em in Manila all at the same time.
One can only hope that D-Will and the Black Mamba will establish a similarly entertaining chemistry together if/when they join forces with Besiktas in Turkey.
