After four hours of discussion under the supervision of Judge Arthur Boylan are seeing signs that this dispute could finally end? Unfortunately, no.
Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News writes:
Neither side went into this round of mediation with much optimism, according to several sources. Still stung by 16 days of failed federal mediation in February and March, they all seemed resigned to wait for Judge Nelson to issue her ruling on the players? request for an injunction to block the lockout.
Because of a gag order, there's little information that has come out from the day and a half of negotiations. The only thing that can be discerned is that talks have progressed slowly and the only thing positive to take out of this is that both sides are actually talking once again.
It's safe to assume that the players and owners are willing to hold out because they're waiting for Judge Henry to rule on an injunction.
Until then, we're all spectators waiting for the unlikely scenario that someone will blink.
