Miami Heat: Defense the Key to Heat's Success Early in Game 2

The Miami Heat Defense Leading the Way Early in Game Two Vs the Philadelphia 76ers

The Miami Heat are shooting around 40 percent from the field yet hold a comfortable lead earlier on against the Philadelphia 76ers in Monday's Game Two in the Eastern Conference First Round.

Chris Bosh is on-fire, scoring 11 points and grabbing seven boards midway through the second quarter.

Outside of Bosh, the Heat are struggling offensively. LeBron James is 4-of-7 and Dwyane Wade is 4-of-9.

The defense has been the difference for the Heat. They only allowed the 76ers to score 13 points in the first quarter and Philly only scored 23 half way through the second.

The Heat held the 76ers to 4-of-20 shooting from the floor in the first period.

This is nothing new for the Heat. They own the 76ers of late according to Ira Windermen the Sun Sentinel:

Going back to the regular season, the Heat entered having won 16 of 19 games, with the 76ers entering having lost six of their previous seven games. The Heat entered having won eight in a row from the 76ers, when counting a 3-0 sweep this past season and a 4-0 season sweep in 2009-10.

The Heat have dominated Philly in the last couple of years and it's shaping up to be more of the same tonight.

Halfway through the second quarter, the 76ers are shooting 22 percent. All of their top players are struggling and only rookie Evan Turner (10 points on 4-of-7 from the floor) is playing remotely well.

If the Heat continue to play defense like this then it's going to be a very quick playoff run for the 76ers.
