Todd Graham: Pitt's Second Choice An Ultra Successful Head Coach

Todd Graham was just named the head coach at Pitt, three weeks after the University fired Michael Haywood following his much publicized arrest for domestic violence charge.

Graham comes to the job, held last year by Dave Wannstedt, by way of the University of Tulsa, where he posted a 36-17 record and three bowl victories in four seasons on the job.

Prior to that, he was the head coach at Rice for a season, but left to take over at Tulsa, where he had been the defensive coordinator just two years earlier.

"His innovative, creative and energized approach to football makes him an exciting leader for our program," Steve Pederson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "He has a proven track record of success at all levels of football and his wealth of experience on both sides of the ball gives him a unique set of credentials."

Graham does have experience coaching in the Big East and recruiting the area: he was a defensive coach at West Virginia, Pitt's chief rival, from 2001-02.
