The Atlanta Falcons are due to kick off against the Green Bay Packers in a little less than an hour now. And when they finally do so, they will embark on a 60-minute quest to prove to the football world that they are, in fact, for real.
Indeed, despite the fact that the Falcons finished with the best record in the NFC at 13-3, there is a general sense that they are not the strongest team in the conference. This seems to stem from the fact that they very rarely dominated during the regular season, unlike their counterpart in the AFC, the New England Patriots.
Moreover, the Falcons failed to impress in their one chance to claim their rightful title as the NFC's best team when they lost to the Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 16.
In addition, the oddsmakers don't seem to have much faith in the Falcons either. Even with Matt Ryan and his 20-2 home record, the Falcons are favored by just a single point.
On the flipside, the Packers are now a trendy pick to go all the way to the Super Bowl ever since they dispatched the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles in convincing fashion last weekend.
In fact, Aaron Rodgers and the Pack have been the subject of so much hype in recent weeks, it's almost like people have forgotten who they're playing.
The Falcons have eyes and ears, so one assumes that they are aware of the fact that people are somewhat overlooking them.
