Carmelo Anthony, Is He Worth the Knick's Top Players?
The New York Knicks are the clear favorites in the Carmelo Anthony trade sweepstakes. Denver wants a good number of players to replace their All-Star.
All this trade talk is having a negative affect on the players. How can you play the game when your fans are screaming, "We want Melo? ? The Knicks are just 1-3 at home in the month of February. It has even affected the Nuggets plays as well. They have only won three of their last 10 games.
Reports are saying that Carmelo could have been a Knick on Monday but the deal was just too much. How could the Knicks say no? I understand they think they're giving up too much but in reality they really aren't. The reward greatly outweighs the risk here.
Carmelo Anthony is one the best players in the NBA today. Players of his caliber do not come around that often. The Knicks must strike while the iron is hot and get Carmelo now. They shouldn't be hesitant in waiting until free agency comes because Carmelo could go somewhere else.
If I were the Knicks I would say take whomever you want besides Amare Stoudemire. All there other players can be replaced. The Nuggets want Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, a first round draft pick, and Eddy Curry. The Knicks would get Carmelo and Chauncey Billups. That's good enough for me. Just get the deal done New York.
The Knicks will still be a good team if they give up those players. They know they can rebuild around Carmelo and Amare. High profile guys are going to want to play with those two in hopes of winning a championship. New York just need to hurry up and make the trade.
