Ben Roethlisberger: How Does A Third Super Bowl Change Steelers QB's Image?

Ben Roethlisberger: After Sexual Assault Charges, Does QB Need a Super Bowl Win?

Ben Roethlisberger had a tough offseason after being accused of sexual assault for the second time in less than a year.

The two-time Super Bowl champion was suspended the first four games of the 2010 season as a result of the allegations and he also lost a lot of fan support based on the allegations. The Steelers came close to dealing the troubled quarterback.

Now after a tumultuous season battling public persona, Roethlisberger has taken the Steelers back to the championship level, but does he need another ring to get himself back into the good graces of the public?

I think a good comparison for Roethlisberger is Kobe Bryant.

In 2003 Bryant was accused of raping a girl while in Colorado to get knee surgery. Kobe went through a tough time battling a negative public image because of the charges even after the case was thrown out. But after time and a few champions, Kobe is once again among the most popular players in the NBA.

If Roethlisberger wins his third Super Bowl today and shows some sort of emotion or vulnerability when being interviewed at the end of the game I think he will win a lot of fans back.

I don't know that it will bring Roethlisberger all the way back, it does help.
